An Important Update from Bigstock
As you know, we already offer image buyers the flexibility of pre-paying with credits. Next week, we’ll be offering an increasingly popular way for customers to buy images: subscriptions.
How will this affect me?
As a participant in the Bridge to Bigstock program, the images you have contributed to Shutterstock are made available on Bigstock. All images on Bigstock will be available for download with a Bigstock subscription.
It is our goal to create a fair subscription royalty structure for Bigstock contributors that is competitive within the industry. As we are making subscriptions available to Bigstock customers for the first time, we expect to learn a lot about how our customers respond to these new products.
For the next six months, we’ll guarantee that every subscription download you receive will generate a royalty of $0.38USD – our maximum rate. These terms are being offered to contributors in the Bridge to Bigstock program only. As this period draws to a close, we’ll let you know in advance if we expect any updates to our royalty structure for Bigstock subscriptions.
Here are our standard royalty terms for Bigstock subscriptions:
- Every time one of your images is downloaded using a subscription, you will earn a royalty.
- The more downloads you’ve acquired in the previous 12 months, the higher your royalty will be, up to $0.38USD per download.
Here are the royalty per download details:
$0.25 USD | 1 - 199 Downloads in Previous 12 Months
$0.27 USD | 200 - 999 Downloads in Previous 12 Months
$0.29 USD | 1,000 - 1,999 Downloads in Previous 12 Months
$0.31 USD | 2,000 - 9,999 Downloads in Previous 12 Months
$0.33 USD | 10,000 - 19,999 Downloads in Previous 12 Months
$0.35 USD | 20,000 - 49,999 Downloads in Previous 12 Months
$0.38 USD | 50,001+ Downloads in Previous 12 Months
- Any Bigstock download will be counted to determine which royalty tier is applied, regardless of how our customers license the image.
- Credit and partner royalties will remain unchanged.
- Extended licenses cannot be purchased using a subscription, and will continue to generate a royalty of up to $29.70.
Are there any other updates?
Yes. We have put in place a 250,000 print run limitation on our Standard License. We believe this will increase demand for Extended Licenses, generating higher royalties for you from Bigstock.
We are also simplifying our Standard Image License terms to bring Bigstock more closely in line with industry standards for royalty-free licenses.
