We want to make our Audio product great by creating a better customer experience and meeting the expanding and evolving opportunities in the music licensing industry. iStock Audio is moving to Getty Images Music.
Here are our plans for making this a reality:
We will move all iStock Audio customers, contributors and content to a single platform built specifically for audio: Getty Images Music (this change also supports our Unification project).
In the coming weeks, audio will no longer be available on iStock.com and customers will be redirected to Getty Images Music.
iStock content will become part of the royalty-free SoundExpress collection currently available on Getty Images Music, increasing opportunities for promoting iStock Audio as part of the Getty Images Music offering.
Pricing of files will be adjusted from the current iStock rates to a new all-inclusive license of $50 USD for full tracks and $10 USD for sound effects (full details below).
Your royalty rate will be raised to the standard and fixed royalty rate of 35%.
The customer experience on Getty Images Music will be improved with royalty-free content being the primary focus.
The Details
You’ll be invited to sign a new agreement directly with Getty Images Music, under which your royalty rate will be raised to the standard and fixed royalty rate of 35%. We'll invite you no later than mid-July.
Whether you choose to sign the new Getty Images Music agreement or not, we are giving you advance notice now that your iStock Audio agreement will be terminated on September 1, 2016, since we will no longer be licensing your audio content via iStock.
Once signed we will migrate your content to Getty Images Music, it will not be necessary to resubmit your content. There may be a delay until all your iStock assets are live and fully searchable on Getty Images Music since we will listen to and re-classify each track to meet the specifications of Getty Images Music.
You can continue to upload new material to iStock until we turn off ingestion, for which we will give you notice. Once you’ve completed the signing process, you will be able to submit new material through the Getty Images Music Portal (http://musicportal.gettyimages.com). A Submission Guide is available to help you get started with making your first submission. The Getty Music submission process takes on average 3-4 months from submission to upload. We appreciate your patience and continue to make improvements to reduce this time frame.
Pricing of files is being changed from the current iStock rates to a new all-inclusive license in-line with the SoundExpress collection. This license provides a broader set of usage rights including broadcast and uncapped legal indemnity that is a benefit to our customers. Fully arranged complex compositions from 30 seconds to full length will be priced at $50 USD and stingers, bumpers and sound effects will be priced at $10 USD.
Royalties and payments will be reported and paid by Getty Images Music. Royalty statements will be issued monthly and payments will be made every quarter. You’ll receive access to the Getty Images Contributor Portal shortly after signing where you will be able to maintain your contact and payment details, contact us, as well as view your royalty statements.
Next steps
In mid-July, you will be receiving an invitation to sign a new agreement and set up an account with Getty Images Music. Note: the invitation will be sent from
ContributorHelp@gettyimages.com, so please add this address to your list of allowed email addresses so it not mistakenly treated as spam or junk mail.
If you already have a Getty Images Music account, please email us now at
ContributorHelp@gettyimages.com so we can merge your iStock and Getty Images Music accounts prior to sending you an invitation.
